How many photos do we need?
Although each mosaic we create is unique, they are usually based on a grid of approximately 50 x 50 small images, or cells. The dimensions of the grid vary for each mosaic as the width and height - or aspect ratio - of your main image and photos in your collection play a part in finalising the resolution of the grid, as does the overall size of the print or canvas you order. We assess these factors and develop a mosaic that retains the look of the main image from a distance, yet contains photos that are large enough to be viewed upon closer inspection.

So you can see that a typical mosaic contains placements for roughly 2,000 to 3,000 cells. This is often ideal for our commercial clients, but most of our private customers don't have this number of unique photos in their library. Therefore repeats will occur within their artwork, which we can ensure are kept away from each other if required. We can, however, increase the number of photos in your collection by as much as 500%. It is for this reason that mosaics containing a varied selection of images can be created from only 100 unique photos.

Ordering your artwork
Ordering your custom mosaic couldn't be simpler. With our up-front pricing there's no surprises or hidden charges. Here's the best way to order your artwork

Step 1- Create your collection
Collect all the photos that you want included in your mosaic. These can be digital shots, printed photos or negative strips. Don't worry about any variations in size of the photos in your collection as we'll crop and rescale them before we start the development process. Please make sure that this collection does not contain any photos that you do not want to be used. This typically includes shots containing nudity.

Step 2 - Choose your base image
Decide which photo you'd like as your base image and identify it by naming it "Main", "Master" or "BaseImage", for example. If you have a few favorite photos and can't decide which one to use its best to place them in a separate folder from the standard images in your library.

Step 3 - Send us your photos
Burn your images to a disc and send them to us at the address on our contact page.

Remember to enclose your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address with your disc.

Step 4 - A personal service for personal artwork
Once we receive your photos we'll access the quality of your collection and base image. If we feel one or more of our free services can improve your final mosaic, we'll let you know what can be done. If you've got several base images we'll help you decide which will work best. We'll also obtain your order details, including the following information:

Size - Choose one of the standard sizes or pick one of our Value Packs.

Step 5 - Mosaic development
We'll process your collection and make any agreed adjustments to your base image. Then we'll start the development procedure:

Proof - Within two weeks we'll email you a low resolution draft of your mosaic.
Feedback - We'll listen to any comments you have and amend the mosaic accordingly. We issue up to three digital proofs free of charge.
Approval - Once you're happy with your mosaic artwork we'll email you a payment request. You can pay via Credit Card, or cheque. When we receive your payment we'll produce the print and frame or stretch it, if required.
Delivery - Once completed we'll dispatch your mosaic directly to you.

The whole process takes approximately 3-4 weeks.
